Bert & May x Henry Holland

Our debut tile collection

CRAFTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BERT & MAY

Committed to exceptional materials and fine craftsmanship, Bert & May is synonymous with a raw yet refined aesthetic. Bert & May tiles are created with longevity in mind and colour at their core.

This collection showcases two innovative designs – a glazed print tile and a hand-poured finish tile. These designs beautifully capture Henry Holland Studio's unique style inspired by the traditional nerikomi ceramic technique, reimagined in tile form.

The making of the hand poured tile involves hand mixing and then pouring two pigments together into the moulds.

The colour spectrum revels in four earth-inspired hues - Mineral Blue, Rust, Rosemary, and Purple Brown. These colours dance playfully against the warm sand backdrop, creating a graphic spectacle that's as simple as it is captivating.

The art of nerikomi

Traditional Technique

The art of nerikomi involves the mindful stacking, folding and rolling of multi-coloured layers of clay to create
graphic, fluid-like patterns that are structured yet unstructured at the same time. A technique which Henry
initially discovered during the pandemic whilst researching online, and immediately fell in love with how it so
closely mirrored the way he used colour in fabric weaving and printing to create bold, graphic prints in his
previous fashion work.
